Veterans Benefits are perhaps the most misunderstood and underutilized resources available to millions of veterans and their families. While it is commonly known that certain benefits are available for the brave men and women who served in our armed forces, many veterans and their families are unaware that they could be eligible for an even wider range of benefits through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), even if they did not directly retire from the military or suffer injuries in the line of duty.

One such benefit is known as Aid and Attendance.    This little-known veteran's benefit can be a godsend to veterans and their surviving spouses who are faced with the high costs of rehabilitative health care or senior-related care.  If the veteran or spouse/dependent requires the regular attendance of another person to assist in eating, bathing, dressing and undressing, or taking care of the needs of nature, then he/she may qualify for this benefit, which can be as much as $2,127* per month.  This extra money can be applied toward the cost of in-home care, adult day services, assisted living services or even nursing home care.  One of the highlights of this particular benefit is that the extra monthly income allows the veteran or surviving spouse to remain in their home, or at their care facility of choice, for much longer than otherwise possible.

Aid and Attendance is paid in addition to other veterans benefits, and is subject to certain eligibility requirements. HighPoint Law Offices is proud to have helped scores of local veterans and their surviving spouses qualify for Aid and Attendance, because we know it means a better quality of life for those who have bravely served our country.
